Bayyinah Access Programs: Part Time Arabic Studies

About the Access Programs

In response to the growing demand for Arabic studies that fit a modern schedule, Bayyinah now offers part-time classes for those with work, family or school commitments. The programs are seven months long and are aimed at students who are able to write in Arabic, recognize the Arabic letters and read the from Arabic language books, including the Quran, even if they do not fully understand what they are reading. The course covers the essentials of Arabic Grammar and Word Morphology, Quranic Vocabulary, and their implications on Quranic Translations. The Morning Program is open for women only, while the Evening Program is open to both men and women.

Note about Babysitting:
Children are not permitted in the classroom, a separate room will be provided for mothers/babysitting. Parents must make arrangements with their babysitter to watch their children during class time.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

How much Arabic do I need to know to take this course?
Students of this course should be able to write in Arabic and recognize the Arabic letters, even if they do not fully understand what they are reading.  No previous Arabic grammar experience is required.

How many hours do I need to study outside of class?
We recommend that students should spend at least an hour at home for each day of class to review notes and complete the homework.

What can I do to prepare before class starts.
During this class we will be using Chapter 18 of the Quran (Al-Kahf-The Cave) for practical application of theory learned in the classroom. We recommend students familiarize themselves with this surah before class starts. Read the Surah in Arabic alongside a translation often.

Is there a payment plan available?
Students in need of financial assistance may pay the tuition in two equal installments of $550 each. The first installment is due Jan 7th, and the second is due Feb 11th. Please contact Abdullah Syed (abdullah.syed@bayyinah.com) for additional information about tuition payments.

What if I have to miss class?
We encourage students to make every effort to attend class, however understand that sometimes circumstances do not permit this. Please inform the instructor as soon as you know you will be missing a class, or soon after you are absent. Be sure to review the class audio recordings for that day and read the notes, as well as attempt the homework. If needed, arrange some extra time with the instructor to review material that was missed.

What class materials do I need for this class?
The class textbook and exercise book will be provided to all registered students. Students should bring any note taking materials they need on the first day of class. A laptop is not required in the classroom, however students should have internet access as home as this will be the main form of communication for the class.

What childcare options are available?
Children are not permitted in the classroom while class is in session, however a separate room will be provided for babysitting. Parents must secure their own babysitter to watch their children during class time. There will not be a parents’ room for this class, thus in order to attend and participate in the class, all students must be present in the classroom.

What if I start the class and then decide it’s not for me?
The first day of class is free and open to anyone who is seriously considering taking this course. The last day to pay tuition is the second day of class.
The last day to request a full refund for the course is the second day of class.
If a refund is requested during the first month of class, a 50% refund will be issued.
Course tuition is non-refundable after the first month of class.
